What’s in the box?

It looks like we hit the mother lode of summer produce! This will be a pretty easy box to use. And it’s our first box without bok choy!!! Not that I have anything against bok choy. Here are the preliminary plans:

The low-hanging fruit (i.e., stuff that we can eat with minimal preparation)

  • 3 ears corn (boil or grill)
  • 3/4 pound plums (ripen and eat)
  • 1 pound tomatoes (slice off rotten parts and eat with salad)
  • 1 pound onions (eat like an apple)
  • 1 bunch lettuce (eat as a salad)
  • 1 pound cherries (I took that picture before Bill ate them all.)

The experimental subjects (i.e., stuff that will inspire new recipes)

  1. corn (microwave!) 5 min/corn
    onion (blend like watermelon) = white
    tomato – makes me want Caprese salad = red
    plum = blue

    So patriotic!
